Last year was an interesting year for us wedding-wise. Due to the ever changing and unpredictable weather (and longer than normal summer sun) we had quite a few surprises at weddings that took place very early or very late in the year.
We got to visit many stately homes (which is never a bad thing); Wandering through the beautiful gardens with the brides and grooms whilst we were filming.
Weddings always seem to go really quickly; and that’s just as an onlooker. I suppose it goes even more quickly for the bride and groom, which is why they’re always so delighted to play it back on a DVD. It slows it all down so that they can enjoy it all over again in a far less stressed and nervous situation.
As a videographer you are always on the move and always looking for a new angle to film at. We are always rushing from one place to another; from house to house and from Church to reception. Yet it is all worth it when we get to sit down in the editing room and look over the footage we managed to capture. The one time that there is no rush for the videographer is during the photographs; of course a photographer would completely disagree! As the photographer lines up the shots there’s usually a beautiful backdrop. My job suddenly becomes wonderfully easy. Normally, at this point of the day, the light is a little softer and warmer. It’s a real a joy to be there filming and getting to share the couple’s magical marriage moments.
Last year more than most we got this light late into October, which meant we got a few more weddings in towards the end of the year. As with all “out of season” weddings the lighting was just superb. Not too bright, and really flattering too. Here is a trailer for David and Margaret’s wedding that we shot fairly late in 2011… I hope you enjoy!
