Wasteland - the locations

One of the major challenges we've had to face while making Wasteland in the locations. Not only finding them but dealing with the issues the they create. However, we were very lucky with a number of the place we got to film, in this video some of the cast talk about the challenges that they faced while filming Wasteland

Wasteland - the cast

Although making a feature film can be a challenging process to go through, it can be so much fun, especially when you've got a great cast bonds are formed and friendships are made. Wasteland has been no different in that respect. Whether it was Shameer Seepersand putting in long hours from the start of the project or Mark Drake, Rachel Benson Jessica Messenger who have all done a fanastic job coming into the project and making it one that we are all so very proud of. Here in this video the two actors playing the central characters of Scott and Beth talk about the experience of making Wasteland

Wasteland - the scripts beginings

Wasteland has been a very interesting process to go through. Finding the time to make a feature film while running a busy video production company and have a home life is a difficult balancing act and yet here we are, coming towards the end of the whole project. It's been an amazing experience, highlighted even more so by the behind the scenes videos we've been putting together. Here's one for your viewing pleasure

Campaigning for Wasteland

At the time of writing this blog the official Wasteland trailer has 3,491 views, less than 2 weeks since first appearing online. We have also managed to raise £2,440 of our £3,000 goal on our Indiegogo campaign. I speak on behalf of everyone who has worked on Wasteland when I say a massive thank you to everyone who has contributed from £7 to £600 and becoming an executive producer of the film. Also thank you everyone who has shared our Indiegogo campaign and trailer across social media and told people to check it out. It means the world to everybody who has put a lot of hard work into this film over the past 14 months (and longer for those who were involved in the preproduction!). We have been overwhelmed by the support, comments and interest that has been raised since the official trailer was launched, it's always nerving unveiling a film for the world to see, so we really are grateful for all the support. We have had over 60 funders, some of you contributing multiple times to get some exciting and exclusive perks and to show your support, again thank you. There is still plenty of time to contribute and plenty of perks to get your hands on including the official Wasteland soundtrack by Dave S. Walker of SoulTribeMusic, special directors cut DVD including behind the scenes footage, interviews, breakdowns and much more coming soon. We are very proud of what we have achieved with Wasteland and if we hit our goal we can ensure that both the special effects and marketing for distribution are top notch. We have some fantastic interviews with the key cast and crew coming soon so be sure to keep an eye on the Wasteland social media pages and please continue to share and shout about the film. Waste of Land but not of Time

As Wasteland draws to a close in it’s film schedule it’s now time to turn and our attention onto the editing process. This always causes me to pause for thought.

It’s been an incredible experience filming Wasteland. We have had nothing in the way of budget and we've only got a small crew, but we have gone out there and put ourselves on the line in an emotional sense. The crew have been fantastic. They have put up with early morning call times (for instance, 6am most days!), crazy locations in the middle of nowhere and not to mention the cold, wet weather. All this for a feature film.

At times we’ve all lost our minds, we’ve fallen out, made up, but most of all I think we’ve all had fun and now there a real bit of buzz going around about what we have made. I had aims at the start of the project, very modest aims I feel. Incredibly, we’ve already surpassed some of those aims and we haven’t even finished yet!

Cannes Film Festival 2012

Back in May my lead actor Shameer and I went to Cannes film festival. It was more of a  “let’s have a look and see what it’s all about and then see if it’s worth coming back next year” sort of trip, however we were astounded by how many people were really interested in us and in Wasteland. The more people we spoke to, the more that appeared keen to talk more to us. We left with almost 10 companies needing to see the finished film with the view of buying it from us and distributing it worldwide.  Now I have to stress that this level of interest at this point is incredible, but it doesn’t mean anything until the film is finished and we’ve sent it to the distribution companies in question. That said, it doesn’t half give you a buzz!

Ever since I was a young child, I've wanted to make films. As you get older that idea becomes a dream that turns into an impossible dream that only a select few get to do.  But the more I push, and the harder I fight, the closer that impossible dream gets; infact it's closer than ever right now as I make films all day every day! You have to accept these small victories, however, and grab them. You've got to believe that it is possible.

The Future

I don’t know what will happen to Wasteland in the future, I have great ambitions for it but realistically I don’t know if any of the companies we are talking to will want to distribute it, however what I do know is that this is further along that path than I’ve ever been before and that gives me huge confidence that I can do it again with the next project (of which there are so many to choose from, which is great!), but for now it’s back to the editing of my first feature film...

Is there much to look forward to?

In our current econonmical and financial situation, I'm sure most businesses are questioning how 2012 will pan out.  Despite this uncertainty,  I think it's good to look at the positive things that have happened and take stock of the real successes; we use them to inspire us to do more and achieve more. We are always looking to push ourselves. We never want to stay still. We're always looking to try new things and implement new ideas. This year is no different, I know for a fact there is a lot to look forward to.
