About the Directors
Owen Tooth
Coming from a background in stills photography, Owen Tooth studied Film and Video Production at the University of Derby, graduating with a first. Upon leaving, he directed several internationally award- winning short films and went into advertising. He has many short films, adverts, music videos and corporate films under his belt.
Primarily a Director and Cinematographer, Owen also frequently turns his hand to editing, producing and whatever else comes his way.
An extremely creative, visual individual, Owen has a knack of getting the shots you only dream of. Full of ideas and the knowledge for their implementation as well as a realistic grounding and an ability to work to extremely tight budgets, Owen has a well earned reputation in the Midlands and beyond as a first class film maker.
If you need to get your ideas across concisely and stylishly, he's your (camera)man.
Tom Wadlow
Having developed an interest in photography at an early age, Tom on to study the art at A-level. Also at this time he started studying theatre. After several failed attempt to act, he became more involved behind then scenes and directed a short play, which he also wrote, towards the end of his studies. During his A-levels Tom went travelling all of the world. He went around Europe and as far a field as India, all the time documenting his travels through the lens of his camera. At the end of his India excursion Tom hosted a exhibition of his works.
Having an emerging interest in both theatre and photography Tom moved on to study Film and Video at Derby University. Tom started to make more and more ambitious movies. He always tried to make something new and believed that every project should push his abilities as a film-maker. During the course of his degree Tom made a complex animation, a film-noir and a modern day war film.
After University Tom went on to study film-making in Los Angeles at The New York Film Academy on the Back lot of Universal Studios. During this time Tom made 4 short films. One was shown in the Screening rooms on the back lot. His final film was screened at the Egyptian Theatre on Hollywood Blvd and in Beverly Hills.
After returning to England Tom set up Light Films with fellow film maker Owen Tooth who he met while studying at The University of Derby.
He continues to make short films. The latest, Consequence, was filmed in Los Angeles and is currently in post production.
