coming home

Coming Home is the second Light Films independent film of 2010.  It was shot over a 3 day period in Derbyshire, and features the rolling countryside of the Peak District and the historic Cathedral Quarter of the city centre.

After a few false starts with cast members, the incredibly ambitious film shoot took place in August 2010 and saw the crew build sets and the cast take part in a full armoury training session.  With replica firearms, uniforms, full make up and a lot of on-set head-shaving the production was incredibly challenging, but incredibly fun-filled with many of the cast seeking therapy in off-screen banter that fills the archives of "out-takes" at Light Films HQ.

synopsis

John Miller is a well respected soldier who has earned his status in his regiment through sheer determination and commitment to his country.

His dedication and commitment to his wife, Gwen, is uncertain resulting in their physical separation; Miller isn't quite ready to let go of Gwen mentally and his capabilities and career come under strain when he's appointed lead in a 'special ops' mission.

Can he allow his demons, rivals and loves to rule his head and his heart? Or will he fail gracefully as human thoughts and emotions take over?

production notes

Coming Home was originally the final film of Tom Wadlow's degree in 2003. However upon revisiting the film Tom felt that it could be re-told and improved. It is a fiiting end to a series of films which started with The Apartment being a film version of the first play Tom ever wrote and directed at school. Coming Home was not only the end of a series of films but also a huge leap forward in the way in which Light Films showcase their work, click here to see the premiere

Publicity

This was Luck Design’s first film project working with Light Films. The brief was to create a simple, striking image for the film. The idea uses the silhouette of the main character referring to what’s going on inside his head. Stills from the shoot were given a military treatment for the programme and publicity material was well received. CH_Programme
